Store Policies

OUR BOOKS: We carry new and used books. They are arranged according to fiction category or non-fiction subject matter. All fiction is filed alphabetically by the author’s last name within each category. Most used merchandise is 50% (or lower) of the cover price UNLESS it is marked otherwise.

TRADE-IN POLICY

WHAT WE ACCEPT: most paperback and hardback books, homeschooling books, and materials if they are deemed to be within our trade-in guidelines.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT:  Audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, VHS videos, Readers Digest condensed fiction, computer software, video games, magazines, and older Harlequin or Harlequin Presents

CONDITION: Please bring in only books that are in clean, readable condition with covers and spines intact. Books should not smell of cigarette smoke. Heavy underlining/highlighting is not acceptable.

Moldy or torn books, spiders, bugs, pet hair, and dirt are not very inviting, and we ask that you sort these out before bringing them in. We will refuse to evaluate books that may pose a hazard to the health of our team. While both hardcover and paperback books have used bookstore appeal, a marked, highlighted, tattered, dog-eared book loses value fast. A paperback book loses its value if the binding is stretched or the pages are bent.

INVENTORY:  Your books will always be checked against our current inventory. Internal guidelines dictate how many copies of each book we will keep on hand at any given time.

TRADING: Store credit is issued for items you wish to trade with us that meet our guidelines. If you wish to have returned books that you will not receive credit for, you MUST notify the bookseller during dropoff. Books become store property once dropped off. DO NOT leave books on our deck area.

CREDIT – We issue trade credit based on the current demand and saleability of a book. Credit is often – but not always – based on a percentage of the original list price of the book and may vary. Credit may be used to pay for one-half (1/2) of your used book purchase. The other half (1/2) of the used book purchase price will be paid in cash/charge. Credit may not be used towards new books, items marked “No Trade” or any other items other than used books. Credit accounts may not be “cashed out” at any time. Credits will expire one year after your last transaction.

LIMITS on incoming items: Storage space is limited and we ask that you bring in no more than 2 banker-size boxes at a time.  We cannot hold any items for pick up more than three (3) days. If items you want returned are not picked up within three (3) days of us contacting you, we will donate or discard them at our discretion.

The amount of credit we offer for merchandise is NOT negotiable. Prices and policies are subject to change at any time.

BOOK DONATION: If you prefer to donate your books, the same conditions mentioned above apply. Donated books are processed the same as trade-ins however credit that may have been issued will be applied to a donation account.
